Physical Installation & Safety
Step 1: Choose the Right Location
Mount on a GFCI-protected outlet under an eave, 2 ft above grade, clear of sprinkler spray and of the fixture's own light.
Step 2: Mount the Plug
Hook the keyhole slot over the supplied screw and anchor so the plug never sits face up.
Step 3: Connect the Load
Plug the dimmable fixture into the plug's own outlet and cap the unused socket.
Step 4: Verify Dimming
Sweep from 100% to the lowest level and raise the minimum brightness parameter until the fixture stops flickering.

Network Pairing Walkthrough
Recommended steps for smart network inclusion and initial setup.
Step 1: Scan the DSK Before Mounting
Pair near the hub first, then scan the 25-digit DSK code on the packaging box; mounting it outside before pairing is the usual failure.
Step 2: Power On and Wait
Plug it into the GFCI outlet and leave it; SmartStart joins within 10 minutes, with the blue LED blinking during the interview.
Step 3: Tune the Parameters
Set Param 11 for minimum and Param 12 for maximum brightness, then Param 7 for the night light.
Step 4: Test Dimming and Automation
Run a full sweep in the mounted position and confirm no flicker at the low end.
Troubleshooting FAQs
Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.
Q: Which hubs support the outdoor dimmer?
A: Any certified Z-Wave controller, including SmartThings, Hubitat and Home Assistant. On SmartThings install the Minoston Edge driver so the multilevel capability is exposed properly.
Q: The lights flicker or strobe at low brightness.
A: Landscape LED fixtures are frequently not dimmable, and no parameter fixes that. Confirm the fixture is dimmable, then raise Param 11. If it still strobes, the transformer is the problem.
Q: How far can it be from the hub outdoors?
A: 100 ft mesh, 1,300 ft line of sight on Long Range. Metal fixture housings and exterior walls both cut range, so keep the plug clear of the transformer box.
