Physical Installation & Safety

⚠️
INSTALLATION & SAFETY CHECKLIST: 1 Load within 15A 1875W 2 Grounded 125V receptacle 3 Indoor dry location only
01

Step 1: Choose the Right Location

Pick an indoor grounded 125 V receptacle clear of metal enclosures that would distort the current reading.

02

Step 2: Plug Into the Wall Receptacle

Push the plug fully in until it sits flush; a loose fit adds contact resistance and skews the meter.

03

Step 3: Connect the Load

Plug the appliance into the plug's own outlet and let it run a full minute before trusting the wattage.

04

Step 4: Verify Power and Metering

Compare the reported wattage against the appliance nameplate and confirm the kWh counter climbs.

Network Pairing Walkthrough

Recommended steps for smart network inclusion and initial setup.

01

Step 1: Scan the DSK Code

Open the hub's SmartStart screen and scan the 25-digit DSK code on the packaging box.

02

Step 2: Power On and Wait

Plug it in and leave it; SmartStart joins within 10 minutes, with the blue LED blinking while the hub interviews it.

03

Step 3: Tune the Parameters

Set Param 5 for the report threshold, Param 6 for the report interval and Param 12 for the kWh push rate.

04

Step 4: Test Metering and Automation

Run the appliance and confirm both wattage and kWh move, then check the standby draw.

❓

Troubleshooting FAQs

Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.

Q: Hub shows a switch but no power figures.

A: The stock handler only maps on/off. Install the Minoston Edge driver (SmartThings) or Minoston driver (Hubitat) and re-add the device so metering capabilities are exposed.

Q: Wattage jumps around or sits at zero.

A: Raise Param 5 so small fluctuations stop triggering reports. Resistive loads read cleanly, switching supplies always look noisy.

Q: Does metering work in Long Range mode?

A: Yes. Long Range changes the radio path, not the command classes. You need a Long Range-capable hub, and it will not route through mesh repeaters.
