❓

Troubleshooting FAQs

Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.

Q: Does the MP21Z need a hub?

A: Yes. It is Z-Wave, not Wi-Fi, so it needs a certified controller such as SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant with a Z-Wave stick, Vera or Amazon Alexa. Alexa and Google only reach it through that hub.

Q: It stopped responding and the LED is dark, what now?

A: Press once to wake it, then unplug for 30s and reseat. If still dark, press 2x quickly and hold the 3rd press 10s to reset, then re-include. Persistent failure means replacement.

Q: How far does it reach, and does Long Range help?

A: 150 ft to the nearest mesh node, 1,300 ft line of sight on Long Range. Long Range needs a capable hub and cannot use mesh repeaters.
