❓

Troubleshooting FAQs

Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.

Q: Does the 800 Series dimmer need an 800 Series hub?

A: No. It is backward compatible with 500 and 700 Series controllers, but S2 and SmartStart need an S2-capable hub, and Long Range needs an 800 Series controller.

Q: The lamp flickers or buzzes at low brightness.

A: That is a minimum-brightness problem, not a fault. Raise Param 11 until flicker stops, and confirm the bulb is marked dimmable. Non-dimmable LED and CFL cannot be fixed with a setting.

Q: How far can the dimmer be from the hub?

A: About 100 ft through the mesh, or 1,300 ft line of sight in Long Range. It also repeats for other Z-Wave devices, so placing one mid-run strengthens the whole network.
