Mount on a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet under an overhang, 2 ft above grade and inside 2.4 GHz coverage.

02

Step 2: Mount the Plug

Hook the keyhole slot over the supplied screw and anchor so the plug never sits face up.

Troubleshooting FAQs

Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.

Q: Does it need a hub or a Minoston account?

A: No hub. It joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and works through the Minoston app, Alexa or Google. Smart Life also works, but only one account should own the device at a time.

Q: It will not join my Wi-Fi.

A: Almost always the band or encryption. It is 2.4 GHz only and needs WPA2; a 5 GHz-only SSID, WPA3-only network or captive portal will all fail. Split the bands or create a 2.4 GHz guest SSID.

Q: How far can it be from the router?

A: About 300 ft in open air, but the real limit is your Wi-Fi at the outlet. One exterior wall is usually fine; a detached garage or metal shed is not. Check the signal before mounting.
