Troubleshooting FAQs
Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.
Q: Do I need the Minoston app if I use Alexa?
A: Yes for setup. The MP25M needs the Minoston app for its initial Wi-Fi setup; the Matter code is the second step. Pairing straight into Alexa without the app is the most common failure.
Q: The response is slow or the plug drops off.
A: Matter over Wi-Fi is only as good as the Wi-Fi. Confirm it is on a 2.4 GHz band, the signal at the outlet is better than -70 dBm, and the controller's hub is not the bottleneck.
Q: How far can it be from the controller?
A: About 300 ft in open air, limited by 2.4 GHz coverage at the outlet. Matter over Wi-Fi is only as good as the Wi-Fi, so a plug behind a metal appliance will misbehave.
