⏱️

30-SECOND SUMMARY

Quick overview of hardware design, presets, and electrical capability.

The Minoston MP22Z is an outdoor Z-Wave 800 Series smart plug designed for reliable, secure control of exterior loads. Operating at 908.42 MHz, it supports a maximum resistive load of 15A/1,875W inside an IP65 weatherproof housing, and doubles as a signal repeater for the surrounding mesh. With Z-Wave Long Range support, it can reach up to 1,300 feet when paired with a compatible LR hub in ideal conditions. S2 authenticated security and SmartStart simplify secure setup, while ETL listing and FCC Part 15B provide added peace of mind. Compatible with Z-Wave hubs such as SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant, it enables scheduled control of holiday lighting, pumps and patio equipment.

Physical Installation & Safety

⚠️
INSTALLATION & SAFETY CHECKLIST: 1 Both outlet share15A 1875W 2 GFCI protected outlet 3 Vertical mount, receptacles down, 2 ft above ground
01

Step 1: Choose the Right Location

Mount on a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet under an eave, at least 2 ft above grade and clear of sprinkler spray.

02

Step 2: Mount the Plug

Hook the keyhole slot over the supplied screw and anchor so the receptacles face down and water cannot pool.

03

Step 3: Connect the Load

Plug the landscape light or holiday string into the plug's own outlet and cap the unused socket.

04

Step 4: Verify Power and Control

Confirm the LED, toggle the outlet from the app, then press the GFCI test button to prove protection.

Network Pairing Walkthrough

Recommended steps for smart network inclusion and initial setup.

01

Step 1: Scan the DSK Before Mounting

Pair near the hub first, then scan the 25-digit DSK code on the packaging box; mounting it outside before pairing is the usual failure.

02

Step 2: Power On and Wait

Plug it into the GFCI outlet and leave it; SmartStart joins within 10 minutes, with the blue LED blinking during the interview.

03

Step 3: Tune the Parameters

Set Param 6 to 2 so the lights restore after an outage, and Param 2 for the auto-off timer.

04

Step 4: Test Control and Automation

Run one schedule from the app, then re-run a network heal if you moved it far.

❓

Troubleshooting FAQs

Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.

Q: Does it work without internet, and with which hubs?

A: It is Z-Wave, so it needs a certified controller such as SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Automation keeps running locally if the hub does. It is not a Wi-Fi plug, so Alexa and Google need that hub in front of them.

Q: It worked all summer and went offline after a storm.

A: Outdoor devices drop when the mesh loses power. Check the outlet has power and run a network heal. If the plug itself is dark, press once; no LED means it has failed and needs replacing.

Q: How far can an outdoor plug be from the house?

A: 150 ft through the mesh, 1,300 ft line of sight on Long Range. Exterior walls cut mesh range sharply, so pair it near the hub first and re-run a network heal after mounting.
