Z-Wave 800 Series 4-Button Scene Remote Complete Reference
30-SECOND SUMMARY
Quick overview of hardware design, presets, and electrical capability.
The Minoston MR40Z is a Z-Wave 800 Series battery scene controller designed for reliable, secure button-driven automation. Operating at 908.42 MHz, it runs on two CR2032 cells, switches no load itself, and offers four programmable buttons on a magnetic base. With Z-Wave Long Range support, it can reach up to 1,300 feet when paired with a compatible LR hub in ideal conditions. S2 authenticated security and SmartStart simplify secure setup, while FCC Part 15B and Z-Wave Plus certification confirm US radio compliance and interoperability. Compatible with Z-Wave hubs such as SmartThings, Hubitat, and Home Assistant, it triggers scenes, dimming levels and routines from anywhere in the room.

Troubleshooting FAQs
Direct solutions to common network, protocol, and pairing questions.
Q: Which hubs use it as a scene controller?
A: SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant and Vera map the four buttons to central scene commands. Older controllers such as the ISY994i will include it but expose only the battery and a limited button set.
Q: The buttons stopped reporting after a few months.
A: Usually battery or firmware, not hardware. Replace both cells, then re-interview the device. If the LED flashes on every press but no scene arrives, the association to the hub was lost and needs re-adding.
Q: Will it reach through a wall?
A: It is a battery device, so it does not repeat and relies entirely on the mesh around it. Add a mains-powered device between the remote and the hub if the room is on the far side of the house.
